PSP Gets Bloody, And MGS4 PS3 Bundle AnnouncedAuthor: Steve West

Sony today announced some nifty new package deals for their PSP and Playstation 3 systems. The PSP bundle will see the handheld itself get a bloody silkscreen process for the upcoming God of War: Chains of Olympus. The PS3 bundle is only getting Metal Gear Solid 4, nothing all that important really. Oh, and we western folks are getting a rumbly PS3 controller finally. That one arrives the same time as Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, the “first” out of the box rumble supporter.
The PSP bundle includes a “Deep Red” color – think blood spurt that has just barely begun to dry – with Kratos’s face silkscreened on the back. So when you’re on the bus and that teenage hooligan wants to mess with you he’ll have to go through the God of War’s glare first. You’ll also get a voucher to download Syphon Filter: Combat Ops for free. There’s also a UMD of Superbad, but uh…that’s one format that didn’t pan out for Sony. The God Of War PSP Entertainment Pack will be available in June for around 200 clams. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be available in late Q2 2008 (no date was announced by Sony) and Sony would be liking it if you maybe picked up a copy. And hey, since you might not have a PS3 to play it on there’s a bundle being packaged up just for you. The bundle will include the game, an 80GB PS3 console and a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for $499. Nice price, and hello DUALSHOCK 3. For those who preorder MGS4, Sony will allow them into the MGS Online beta in April. Enjoy that. Speaking of the DUALSHOCK 3 controller, it’s officially being released in April for $54.99. This puts it out at about the same time (or perhaps the same date) as GT: Prologue. Phew…that’s a lot of Sony goodness for one day. I think I’m going to go lay down and think about all the sneaking I’ll be doing sometime in Q2. |
