There may be a lot of fuss over the used game business but in a recent survey by Game Crazy it appears that a lot of young buyers would prefer used games to new games and parents are being put on notice to concur.
According Rob MacNaughton, vice president of games at Game Crazy… “It’s no surprise that most parents told us the economy has led them to seek out more wallet-friendly sources of entertainment for their children,”…“Parents should take note as they peruse the video game aisles that there are simple ways to get more value out of their purchases. For instance, at Game Crazy, we sell used games at a discount and people can trade in old games for credit toward new purchases. In fact, our survey found that 94 percent of kids would be happy receiving a used version of a game they want.”According to the survey results, 94% of the kids surveyed said they wouldn’t mind having a used game for the holiday season. I suppose just having it would be sufficient enough for them. Oddly enough, 24% of the parents polled never even purchased a used game for their kid. Hmm, I smell cost-saving tactics ahead. As MacNaughton brought out in the press release, there are plenty of used games available that can help cut the cost of today’s expensive gaming trends. If you need to get the most out of your holiday purchases then it would be wise to take advantage of a few things: 1.) Trade in games you or your kids don’t play. 2.) If you can get the game used, try to do so…it’ll save you a bundle. 3.) If at first you don’t succeed at the local retailer, try finding the game via the online store(s). Shockingly enough 40% of the parents polled in the survey didn’t take advantage of trade-ins and 15% didn’t know you could trade-in games. Epic fail? Definitely.
