EA had the idea years ago to look at each year’s Super Bowl through the lens of video games. In particular their annual Madden franchise. This year they used the current player roster and stats to pit the New England Patriots against the New York Giants. EA Sports has predicted a Patriots victory, with a score of 38-30. Oh yeah, and in the past 5 years of doing this prediction EA has a perfect record of determining the Super Bowl winner.
The simulation is set up with the current stats and then is computer run. No people are actually playing the game, which is different than what you’ll be seeing on broadcasts about the Super Bowl all weekend long. It’s always fun watching former football stars regain glory on the pixelated gridiron.
According to the sim the game was within 1 point late in the third quarter when a 31-yard touchdown pass from Brady to Moss, which was the effective end of the Giants. When Manning had a chance to come back the Giants turned over the ball on a tipped pass. This will make the Patriots the holder of a perfect 19-0 season, the first in NFL history.
You can watch the game below. But for any commercials you’ll have to head over to Blend Television.
