Pirates Of The Caribbean At World's End Trailer

Aren’t movie licensed games supposed to look crappy? I certainly thought it was the unalienable right of all movie games to play like crap and still sell in the millions. Case in point, Enter the Matrix. It’s for this reason that Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End--I hate to say it--kind of rocks my world...well not rocks, but it jilts them. And who doesn't love a good jilting, eh?

The sword play all looks so very Assassin’s Creed and it looks like combat might get a bit of movie flavor by adding in a bit of platforming to the combat action. The visuals are also pretty spiffy and if the game features the same spectacular soundtrack (which the trailer alludes to,) then we might just have all the ingredients of a standard defying hit.

As with every other movie licensed game, there are the usual pitfalls that the developers need to steer clear from. For one thing, this game will sell like hotcakes no matter when they release it, so pray my fellow gamers that they don’t hasten the development cycle just so its release coincides with the film. It would be unnecessary. Second, the best thing about the Pirates movies (other than Jack Sparrow himself,) are Jack’s adrenaline filled and often hilarious escape scenes. These were destined to be interactive. If At World’s End focuses more on platforming than swordplay, it has a good chance to succeed.
