PlayStation Offers Deep Discounts With 14 For '14 Sale

While the 2014 launch lineup slowly builds up, the folks over at Sony aim to keep gamers busy with a heaping helping of backlog goodness, offering huge discounts on a collection of PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita games as part of the 14 for ’14 sale starting tomorrow, Jan. 14.

I’m going to go ahead and put my money on a 2:14 p.m. PlayStation Network update for tomorrow afternoon, kicking off the Jan. 14 14 for ’14 sale at 14:14 in military time. No matter what time the discounts go live, though, there’s bound to be something here to perk your ears up. Everyone on PSN will enjoy discounts of up to 50 percent off 14 PS3 games and 14 Vita games, with Plus subscribers stretching that figure to as much as 75 percent off.

And these aren’t a bunch of under-the-radar, no-name releases, either. We’re talking some of the best digital games of 2013, including smaller indie titles and AAA offerings, all rolled into one massive sale to help keep you gaming for as long as your little heart desires.

“Each year, we like to celebrate the New Year by giving you huge discounts on some great games from the previous year,” said Sony Digital Distribution Director Pierre Gravereau. “…This year we are taking it up a notch with the 14 for ’14 sale on the PlayStation Store.”

“This promotion will be live through Jan. 20, giving gamers a solid week to make their purchasing decisions. And you’re going to be in for some tough choices if you’re trying not to spend all of your money in one place, too, as nearly 30 games are receiving some deep, deep discounts for the next seven days.

Discounts on console games include AAA games like Crysis 3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as well as PSN titles like Rain and Thomas Was Alone. Of particular note is the woefully overlooked Puppeteer which is available for Plus-ers for as little as seven bucks.

Over on the Vita front, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time has been marked down to $6.75 for Plus, with the highly addictive Spelunky, which also happens to be a cross-buy title, for just $7.49 regular and $3.75 with Plus. And then there’s the Vita’s best FPS of all time, Killzone: Mercenary, which is going for as little as nine bucks with Plus.

Telltale is also getting in on the action with discounts on two of its games. The Wolf Among Us is having its price slashed on the PS3 with the entire first season of The Walking Dead being discounted on the Vita.

And all of that is just scratching the surface for the 14 in ’14 sale. For the full list, and to start planning your budget accordingly, head on over to the PlayStation Blog.
