PlayStation Plus Enhances Vita This November

Sony announced during E3 that the PlayStation Plus program would be making an appearance on the PlayStation Vita. During it's pre-Tokyo Game Show Press conference this morning (late last night in the States), Sony finally unveiled some details about the service.

For starters, PlayStation Vita owners can look forward to Plus benefits starting in November and, like the console version of Plus, it will offer access to various games, discounts and other perks on a monthly basis.

Also like the console version of Plus is the price. Getting Plus for your Vita will cost $49.99 annually. However, if you are already a Plus subscriber for your PS3, then those benefits will carry over to the Vita at no extra cost. Similarly, if Plus being available on the Vita is what it took to get you to finally subscribe, then you'll have access to all benefits on your PS3, too. Of course, you will also be able to take PS Plus for a test run with cheaper 30 and 60 day plans.

According to a Sony press release, “members will be able to play the full versions of designated content for PS Vita available on the PlayStation Store as long as membership is effective, at no extra cost.” So, just like with the current Plus program, everything you download through Plus will be available for your enjoyment as long as you remain a member. Think of it as a really cost effective rental system.

Other features include exclusive discounts and content, one gigabyte of cloud save storage (that's on top of the one gig you'll get for you PS3), automatic content and update downloads, and automatic Trophy sync.

Expect more details on what type of content will be coming to the Vita Plus program as its somewhat vague November launch date approaches.
