Portal's Still Alive In Rock BandAuthor: Steve West

We’re all well aware that “Still Alive” from Portal will be released as a Rock Band download in the near future. The sooner the better is my thought on the issue, but Harmonix has only been working on the song for a few weeks. But Valve knows how to market their product, and satisfy fans, so they’ve pushed to license the song. And this past week at GDC during a Valve event the song was played “live” onstage. Unfortunately for the song’s writer, Jonathan Coulton, his backup band had some trouble.
TWiT head honcho Leo Laporte took up lead guitar, Merlin Mann sat down with the drums and the lovely Veronica Belmont provided the bass line. Joystiq, who was at the party caught it all on video (which you can see below). As you can see from the video everyone was playing on easy. But for some odd reason the two rhythm players couldn’t keep the beat. The best tip I can give to someone who falls off rhythm when playing the drums is to just stop for a beat and continue on afterwards. Trying to make up for past makes just causes you to play worse. Harmonix also told Joystiq that they’re hoping to get the song out for .99 cents, although nothing is official. You can enjoy the video below.
