Zack Snyder, director of the vaguely historical action flick 300 (and upcoming Watchmen adaptation), is coming to the games industry. He has signed a deal to produce three games with Electronic Arts at their Playa Vista office.
The write-up in Variety notes that these will be new intellectual properties which EA will own the rights to. In other words, Snyder's not going to be churning out video games based off 300, which was originally a Frank Miller graphic novel. Unless Snyder decides to make some sort of wack-ass sequel like 300 and a 1/2, starring 300 Spartans and a rambunctious eight year old (coming to a Wii near you!).
Any film adaptations of the games will be produced by Snyder's company Cruel & Unusual Films, which is a pretty big incentive for him to make games that don't suck ass. He proved with 300 that he can give teenage boys remote orgasms so he'll fit right into the video game industry - provided he develops an unhealthy obsession with space marines first.
