BioWare Hasn't Figured Out Wii YetAuthor: Pete Haas

Mass Effect developer BioWare may very well branch out into Wii development someday. It doesn't sound like they've got anything concrete in the works, though.
"We just haven't quite figured out what we would want to do on Wii yet and how it would fit into all of our franchises and all of our other stuff," BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk said in an interview with Joystiq. Part of the reason, Zeschuk said, is that BioWare's games tend to play toward an older audience. It doesn't sound like they've found the right idea, either. "And the interface, it goes back to figuring out what's the core gameplay that we want to have? Because we want also to feel somewhat unique, we don't want to say 'Hey, let's just copy 'blah'' or whatever. 'Let's just copy Paper Mario, let's just redo it all, it's Paper Shepard,' you know? It doesn't make any sense." BioWare released Sonic Chronicles: Dark Brotherhood last year for the DS which, according to Zeschuk, "keeps on chugging away from a sales perspective." The DS has the same sort of "casual" image that the Wii has and if BioWare was willing to release a game for the DS and it did well, there doesn't seem to be any reason why they wouldn't make a foray into the Wii market. |
