Earlier today at BlizzCon, Rob Pardo, the Executive Vice President of Game Design, announced that Starcraft fans would be able to spend triple the money on Starcraft 2. More specifically, he announced that Starcraft 2 would be released as three separate games to help expand upon the universe and the story.
The three games, titled "Terrans: Wings of Liberty", "Zerg: Heart of the Swarm", and "Protoss: Legacy of the Void" will each focus their single player campaign on one faction. Each installment will, of course, have multiplayer but each will bring changes and upgrades to the multiplayer as well.
Each chapter will be a full retail release. No release date or pricing structure ($50 a piece? No thank you) has been announced but the Terran chapter will be the first one to hit store shelves sometime in 2009.

On the other hand Pete Haas i would willingly pay 50 bucks a pop to play the single player campaigns of starcraft 2 because im sincerely a fanboy. Obviously your not since you said 50$ No thank you in your article. And im sure some pc users will just torrent all three parts saving themselves the heavy price in cash.
