I’m not sure how I should feel about this, but Konami is bringing Castlevania into the 3D gaming world. Usually iconic 2D scrollers have a hit or miss translation to the 3D realm, but Castlevania Judgment is taking a whole new spin on things. The game is being developed by Castlevania creator Koji “Iga” Igarashi as a 3D fighting game for the Nintendo Wii. We won’t have much to look at until E3, but Konami did send out some basic info on the game.
Players will take on the role of varied characters from the series’ 20+ year history as they waggle battle it out with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The classic Castlevania characters are being designed by manga artist Takeshi Obata. And in general this sounds like a generic fighting game. Yes, I love Castlevania and will play the hell out of Judgment when it releases. I just can’t get excited about whipping my friends in a fighting game based on Castlevania, it just doesn’t fit. That said…holy crap, a Castlevania fighting game!!! I know, I’ll get my bipolar meds from the doc tomorrow.
Also if you have Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for the DS you’ll be able to use the Wi-Fi Connection to hook into the Wii and unlock bonus gameplay content.
