As lame as Nintendo’s press conference was and as lackluster as Sony’s ended up being, it was surprising that Microsoft was the big one with a major Japanese developer announcement. In fact, it was likely the biggest announcement of the entire show that Final Fantasy XIII would appear on the 360. But Square Enix had more to show than just that tentpole title. Also up for the show was The Last Remnant, one of a few brand new IP’s Squeenix demonstrated.
The game follows Rush, your typical J-RPG hero who lives an unassuming life with his sister on Eulam Island. Over on the mainland war has raged over the Remnants, ancient artifacts coveted for their power. The ruled rose up to fight those in power and the result is an epic war. Living on Eulam Island Rush is immune to this war until his sister is kidnapped by soldiers. Rush uh…rushes out into the world that he does not know or understand to find his sister.
The Last Remnant is set to release on the Xbox 360 this November 20, with a PS3 release date still TBD.
