Why I'm Excited/Worried For Punch-Out!! For The Wii

Why I'm Excited/Worried For Punch-Out!! For The Wii You have no idea how much I love Punch-Out!!. I love it so much that when Super Smash Bros. Brawl was announced, I immediately started writing letters to Nintendo (And also posts on this very site) to petition to get ‘Lil Mac into the game as a playable character. I was met half-way, as he was one of the trophies you could unlock in battle.

The thing is, I absolutely abhor Wii Boxing and could remember thinking when I played it for the first time, “God, I hope they don’t make Punch-out!! like this if they ever reinvent it for this system.” And the verdict on that one is still not out. Premeiring last week with a video that announced that Punch-Out!! would indeed be coming to the little box that could, I greeted it with both glee and nervous titters.

Now, I know I really shouldn’t be all that worried. The track record so far for the Wii when putting out new spins on old classics has been pretty good so far (well, except for Mario Kart Wii. I don’t know where that one went off the tracks to, but it just isn’t that much fun,) but something’s just got me worried about this next one. Maybe it’s because I love Punch-out!! so damn much—One of my first gaming memories ever was playing the old arcade version where ‘Lil Mac was all green wire-framy—or maybe it’s because Wii Boxing was such a rollicking disappointment. Whatever it is, I’m very worried/excited for this game. It’s scheduled to come out later next year. Keep your fingers crossed for this one, friends.

while i agree that wii boxing is broken , kart is perhaps the best game on the wii, and if u think its not fun i dont know what u expected. to me it feels like a natural progression of the series and i love all of them, but wii kart reigns supreme. i find ur either a kart player or a smash bros player, I am the former u r the latter. Horses for courses.

Mario Kart Wii not fun? Perhaps it was you who went "off track" and suffered head trauma. That could be a possible explanation of your mindless and non supportive description of Mario Kart Wii's lack of fun. Even a journalist with rudimentary skills would have supported their thoughts.

Usher, thank you for making my point for me. Indeed this article was not about Mario Kart Wii or the entire franchise, but thank you for widening the discussion. Your post, which provided examples of why you think Double Dash was a better game is a perfect example of why you should have wrote this article.

However, what I find incredible is that no one has posted any relevant replies about the authors worries/excitement over Punch Out, but rather to discusses Mario Kart or Smash Bros. It was the author's inclusion of Mario Kart and how it's "just isn't that much fun" that prompted this thread, not me.

On a personal note I have owned and extensively played both Double Dash and the Wii's offering, and it is not reviews that determine the fun factor for me. It is the simple joy of racing around on karts and bikes, popping wheelies and achieving waggle induced power ups with friends the world over that make Mario Kart Wii and fun game (and it is)... Now on the Punch Out!

joemoe, please recognize that the article wasn't about the unfun parts of Mario Kart Wii.

Added to this, if you read any review of the game whatsoever, many of the reviewers thought that Mario Double Dash was a better game (and it was). The new vehicles didn't compensate for the lacking cooperative features. But if you played both games, you would already know that.

I'm pretty sure punch out will use the motionPlus
