Prototype, an open-ended game featuring an amnesiac shapeshifter who wanders the streets of New York City, has seen its release date shift a few times. However, Activision has now confirmed the game will hit stores in June.

This bit of information was revealed in the Activision's announcement of their New York Comic Con lineup. Developer Radical Entertainment will be holding a panel presentation on the game on Friday night with a live demo and new gameplay footage. Additionally, gamers will have a chance to try out the game during the convention, which takes place this weekend.

Though the wait's been narrowed down to June, there's no specific release date yet. Gamestop currently has the game listed for June 1st for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and June 16th...but Amazon has it pegged at June 30th. So yeah, nobody knows.
