Activision announced today that their open-world action game Prototype will ship to European retailers on June 5th and North American retailers on June 9th. Expect to get your hands on the game a day or so after that.

Prototype stars Alex Mercer, a man who wakes up in a New York City morgue with amnesia and an array of biomorphic abilities - such as being able to turn his hands into blades. While trying to find out more information about himself, he's caught in the middle of a war between the swarms of Infected that roam the streets and the military forces sent to keep order.

Blend Games had a chance to play a few minutes of Prototype at a pre-New York Comic Con event and you can read our impressions of the game here. It'll be released on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
