One of the most fun looking games to hit retailer shelves this spring is Punch-Out!! for the Wii. The game was already penned for being a possible instant-classic if it was just re-introduced to the gaming public on the motion-sensing Wii, and based on this new trailer I couldn’t agree more.

Scheduled for release in late May, Punch-Out!! features all the classic arcade fun from the original SNES version, but available on the Nintendo Wii. If I had one gripe, though, it would be with the limited variety of punches (the combos look awfully similar to the original version of the game from ages ago).

Nevertheless, despite the tenuous assortment of punching variations, the game looks sharp. The animations and character models are as quirky as ever and the opponents are as caricaturized as the original. In addition to getting a glimpse at some of the opponents in the game, you can check out some screen captures below. And is it me, or does the trainer look awfully similar to Fat Albert?
