Parents, you now have a superficial educational reason for buying your child a DS this holiday season. Nintendo will be releasing a new "game" called 100 Classic Book Collection which allows you or your hapless children to read a hundred different books right on your DS.
The DS is already book-shaped so it's well-suited to the task. The text will appear on both screens and you can flip pages by tapping your stylus. The "game" (quotation marks will never be removed, by the way) also allows you to change the font size size, place digital bookmarks, or search for specific words within the text. N-Europe has a full list of 100 Classic Book Collection's selection of titles, which includes works by Austen, Shakespeare and Wilde. You'll also be able to download 10 additional titles via the DS' Wi-Fi connection.
100 Classic Book only has a European release date (December 26th) right now. Oh calamity! Don't they know how ga-ga we are for George Eliot here in the States?
