In the mood for Commanding and/or Conquering? As of this morning, the beta for real-time strategy game C&C: Red Alert 3 is now open to the unwashed masses.

While the beta for the real-time strategy game was previously only available for people who bought the Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath earlier this summer, now anyone with a FilePlanet account can sign-up here. It's first-come, first-serve so expect a long queue time.

Command & Conquer: Red Alert series is an alternate history scenario that started with Albert Einstein traveling back in time to kill Hitler before he came to power. As a result of this change in history, the Soviet Union, not Germany, ends up mounting a worldwide campaign of conquest. As shown in the Leipzig trailer, in Red Alert 3 the Soviets travel back in time and kill Einstein, resulting in the rise of a different foe: The Empire of the Rising Sun. But fear not, no amount of tampering with history can change one constant in the C&C universe: the overabundance of hot military women.
