Good news and bad news, PS3 owners. The bad news is, the PS3 version of Red Alert 3 has been put on hold by Electronic Arts. The good news is that, erm, you can brag that your console repels Communists?

Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, the third installment of the alternate history real-time strategy series pitting Soviets against the West, was announced for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC this Spring. Today an EA representative confirmed to Eurogamer that the PS3 iteration has been shelved, after rumors swirled on the interwebs the past few days. No reason was given for the decision and we don't know know whether this is a temporary delay or an outright spiking of the project.

Red Alert 3 is still full steam ahead for Xbox 360 and PC, though. Eurogamer notes that they'll actually be helped by the delay to the PS3 version as it will free up more of EA Los Angeles' resources. Somehow I don't see that providing any comfort to PS3 fans. I imagine you're used to getting jerked around like this by now, though.
