Rise of the Warriors has launched for the iPhone and iPod touch, bringing the latest creation from The Monkey Twins Studio Inc. to the palm of your hands. The Monkey Twins are billing this as an MMORPG, though the interaction between players appears to be limited to live dueling.
While I can nitpick all I want about whether or not Rise of the Warrirors is “massively multiplayer online,” there’s no denying the RPG elements. Players can design their own player, equip them with unique gear, adventure across a vast map and take on missions that usually result in a text-based duel with some warlord or monsters. “Rise of the Warriors is a game that changes the way in which text-based MMORPGs are played by adding interaction during the fights,” said Creative Director Daniel Tremblay. “We strongly believe that by doing this, it will be more convenient for players because it means no more tap the button and get the result. iPhone and iPod touch gamers can also expect simplicity, yet challenging unique gameplay they may have never seen on other MMORPG games.” Let’s take a look for ourselves, shall we? In case you’re still not convinced, here’s a list of some of the nifty features you can expect out of Rise of the Warriors. Or, you could just download the game for free at the App store. Additional features: -Duel other players live. -Eight different dueling styles to choose from. -Three different avatars to customize per player. -Five Noble Houses to join. -Build and upgrade your camp and its various facilities. -Browse the map for missions, training, challenges and bonuses. -Unlock rare weapons, armor, potions and blessings. -Challenge creatures in the Monster Pit for additional bonuses. -Easily find and duel Game Center friends. -Tag other warriors to find them quickly. -Send messages to other warriors.
