Back before the GTA: San Andreas “Hot Coffee” scandal, there was another game that flanked gaming media with all sorts of censorship propaganda. Yes, I’m talking about Rockstar’s own Manhunt, the gruesome game that fused Warriors-esque gangs with some of the most brutal violence featured in a video game. Well get this, it’s getting a sequel.
Looks like cracker-Jack Thompson won’t be sitting at home for long. His arch-rival, Rockstar, is at it again; they’re currently working on the sequel to one of video games’ most violent action titles, Manhunt. According to the press release, Manhunt 2 is the debut title from the newly formed Rockstar London studio, which is developing the game in conjunction with series creator Rockstar North. The Wii version is being developed by Rockstar Toronto. Manhunt 2 will be available this summer. "With Manhunt 2 we have tried to create a game that stays close to the original concept of chilling suspense and stealth, whilst pushing the game design and storytelling forward," said Sam Houser, founder and executive producer of Rockstar Games. "We are also excited to have our newest development team, Rockstar London, working on the title alongside our two established UK studios, Rockstar North and Leeds." Either Rockstar and Take 2 are looking for some quick media hype, or they’re actually working to enhance what Manhunt already started. Because seriously, I think I’d rather play a sequel to The Warriors or Red Dead Revolver then get another Manhunt game. But anyway, if you want more information on Manhunt 2, you can visit the Official Rockstar Website. |
