The property rights for the upcoming Roman mythological MMORPG, Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising, has been acquired by Heatwave Interactive from PlayGrid. What does this mean for gamers? Well, things will be heating up very soon when it comes to Roman history based, MMO interactive exploits.

According to Anthony Castoro, co-founder and CEO, Heatwave Interactive, he commented in the press release, saying…
. “With this acquisition Heatwave greatly expands its core development capabilities as well as adding a well-known, award-winning title to its expanding intellectual property portfolio. This game hits the Heatwave ‘HIP’ mark in terms of its social gaming features and the intrinsic entertainment value found in its mythological storyline, high action adventure and beautiful art style. ”

Gods & Heroes was in closed beta when production was halted back in 2007. So at least now it’s back on track for making a debut in the public gaming arena. Added to this, Heatwave is the same company who is behind Platinum Life and the popular iPhone app, iSamJackson. So it’ll be interesting to see how they handle the large-scale, action adventure game set during ancient Rome. And hopefully it can rival the likes of Funcom’s Age of Conan.
