Rumor: Guitar Hero World Tour Priced And New Guitar On The Way

I’m not sure how to feel about Guitar Hero: World Tour just yet. My main concern is that everything I’ve downloaded for GHIII will not work, and that will be a deal breaker for me. On the other hand we’ve gotten some nice new rumors to start mulling over. Put aside lame side projects like Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, the names for GHWT are much better: Foo Fighters, System of a Down, Muse, Jimi Hendrix.

The first rumor coming out of an Xbox marketing survey is that World Tour will retail for $180 on current gen consoles, $170 on PS2. The game alone will be the typical $60 for PS3 and 360, while the PS2 version should hit at $50. No big surprises there. Of course you’ll be able to jam over the songs and record your own music…all very cool. But the survey mentions an all new guitar peripheral with a touch sensitive neck slide.

This could be epic. One of the my biggest gripes with playing any of the music games is that while the button pressing is cool to get a basic feel of rhythm you’re missing out on most of that guitar neck. It’s a lot of wasted space and someone had to come up with a plan to rectify that problem. If true this could be most badass of guitar peripherals to ever exist. That’s if it works as I envision. If Activision goes with making the entire neck touch-sensitive that’ll blow. No feedback on pressing the buttons will cause major problems with playing.
