I know we’re about to tell you about yet another rumor, but this is one that is likely true. Or at least it should be, as offering such a service should have happened a year ago. In any case a shaky source has posted a picture of what they claim to be the PS2 store on the Playstation Network.
The posting at the N4G forums says that Sony plans to announce the feature at E3 this year (see? Microsoft isn’t the only one with a leaky system) and should go live later in the summer. Of course if true I doubt we’ll actually see the reality until far later. The poster claims that their “friend” works for Sony Europe and the feature will roll-out in Europe first. That claim alone makes me question the veracity of this rumor as Sony rarely ever initiates something so major in the European market.
Despite Sony’s previous claims that the PSN is intended to focus on new titles rather than classics you knew that this just had to happen eventually. And if you can’t make them out in the image the games are: MGS 2: Sons of Liberty, Fantavision, Red Faction, Ridge Racer V, Smuggler’s Run, SSX and The Bouncer.
