As annoying as it is to write out S.T.A.L.K.E.R., there's a really good deal on the game this week. Steam's offering Shadow of Chernobyl, the first entry in the series, for only $5 until November 2nd.

The series centers around the Zone, an irradiated wasteland around the nuclear power plant of Chernobyl. A meltdown at the plant has mutated the surrounding plant and animal life. A number of competing factions risk the dangers of the Zone in search of scientific knowledge, money, and more.

In Chernobyl
A direct sequel to Chernobyl, Call of Pripyat, will arrive in the US and most of Europe in the first quarter of 2010. Germany, Austria, Switzerland get the game next month.
