This weekend GSC Gameworld released the first trailer for their sci-fi shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. It is not lacking in the creepiness department.

Like its two predecessors, Pripyat set within the Zone, the irradiated wasteland created by a second (fictional) catastrophe at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The player controls a Ukrainian secret agent set into the Zone to investigate what happened to a group of military helicopters that went missing. In doing so, you'll run afoul of paramilitary groups and mutants that now inhabit the area.

I never got around to playing the second one (Clear Sky) but Shadow of Chernobyl was an interesting experiment in open-world gameplay and was damn scary to boot. Hopefully Pripyat can strike the same tone while rooting out the technical shortcomings of previous games. Look for it to hit the PC this autumn.
