The sequel to the 2006 RPG shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was supposed to hit stores in North America on September 5th, but not anymore. It seems because of a manufacturing error, the game will be delayed.
According to Blue's News, a North America distributor has issued a recall for copies of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky. Apparently there was a printing error and subsequently the game didn't ship with CD keys. Oy.
The tentative new release date, according to some online retail sites, is now September 15th. The game was also to be distributed digitally via Steam but as of now the release date is listed there as "September 6th." I'm not quite sure how this error would affect digital copies but that release could be pushed back too.
Clear Sky is the prequel to the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R.. The series is set in near-future Chernobyl, Ukraine, where a nuclear disaster has transformed the area into an unstable wasteland filled with mutant plants and animals. The player controls a mercenary who must fight and collaborate with various factions attempting to control the wasteland.
I've posted a gameplay vid below, if you're not familiar with these games at all. It's gotten decent reviews overseas and I'm thinking it might help me get my mind off a certain other post-apocalyptic RPG shooter.
