Here's another installment of "this really prominent game got released and obviously it's going to get a sequel" news: Volition is now beginning development of Saints Row 3. They're looking to shake up the formula of the previous two games, too.

"We've already started work on Saints Row 3," said Saints Row 2 associate producer Dan Sutton in an interview with Play. "We have a new direction we want to go in with that which we of course can't talk about."

Hmm. Well, we can assume they're not going to follow Grand Theft Auto's move toward gritty realism, so as to avoid the whole "GTA clone" label some try to pin on it. So, what will they change? Will the series move away from Stilwater, the city where the first two games took place? Could they change time periods?

Well, whatever The New Direction is, we probably won't hear about it for awhile. Saints Row 2 was released only a couple weeks ago so go play that and get off Volition's back, okay?!
