One of the most intriguing DS games of 2009 now has a firm release date. Warner Bros. Interactive revealed today that the game will arrive in North America on September 15th. The European release date was previously announced as September 25th.

Scribblenauts is a side-scroller in which you travel through levels collecting objects called "Starites". Sounds pretty standard, right? Well, here's the twist: to help you collect Starites, you summon objects by writing their name. A basic example would be writing the word "ladder" and then using the newly summoned ladder to climb over an obstacle. There's said to be tens of thousands of words supported by the game and over 220 levels.

Scribblenauts is being developed by 5TH Cell. They're also the studio who did Drawn to Life, an action-adventure game in which players draw their own characters and equipment.
