If you were wondering how hard you could rock on the new drums Red Octane is putting together for Guitar Hero World Tour -- the answer is like Bobby Brown wielding a pimp hand. The video at Inside Gamer shows off the drums – at least for a little bit as the bulk of the piece has the drummers on actual drum sets, likely doing motion capture – being banged on by Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The most important thing learned in the video is that Red Octane is making the drum pads “velocity sensitive.” This will make for a truer feel to the drums because the harder you hit the louder the sound. You know, kind of like the real thing. And it sounds like the drum pads will also be naturally quieter to hit, so the bulk of sound will come from the game. This could make those late night drumming sessions that drive our significant others insane much more tolerable.
