The Sega arcade shooter that was a blockbuster hit with gamers is now coming to the Wii. Developed by SEGA’s AM2 arcade division, Ghost Squad for the Wii will take full advantage of the Wii’s innovative control scheme, allowing players to perform a multitude of functions, as the safety of the world hangs in the balance...as usual.
Even though arcade games have been losing a lot of financial steam over the years, Ghost Squad managed to come out on top as the most money-making arcade game of 2005. Well finally the game is going from the gum-ridden floors of a pizza parlor, to the comfort of your living room. The only thing it’ll cost you is a suggested-retail price and a Wii console, and that’s a heck of a lot cheaper than the actual arcade box.
For those of you wondering what the game is actually about, Ghost Squad for the Wii will feature a three-member squad that must clear out baddies across three mission areas, which consist of multiple levels/routes. The game will also come complete with an arcade mode and a four-player mode, as gamers will have up to 25 devastating weapons to uncover.
“Ghost Squad brings the classic light gun blaster experience that SEGA made popular in the arcades to the Wii,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America. “With a more robust multiplayer experience than even the arcade version and numerous unlockable items and stages adding replay value, Ghost Squad will be the ultimate shooter experience for the Nintendo Wii console.”
