Silver Account Holders Get Delayed On Xbox LIVE Content

The Xbox 360 Fall Dashboard Update was released today, and with it some nice new features. When thinking of things to include that enhance the LIVE experience, the last thing coming to our mind is removing a feature. That’s just what Microsoft has done. Over at his blog, Major Nelson has a blurb about Silver Account members being denied access to new content for a full week.

” This is not done to annoy our Silver members—limited time exclusive access to content is just one of the many benefits of having a Gold Xbox Live account,” Major Nelson wrote.

The only thing that makes sense is the large number of downloads is beginning to cost Microsoft more than they can charge for it, even with some of ridiculous pricing on LIVE content. Otherwise, this is a confounding maneuver. The picture above showcases this in relation to the new BioShock DLC, but it also pertains to demos. Which is odd, as that’s a wonderful marketing tool for Microsoft and its 3rd party partners.
