Sims 3 Sells 1.4 Million In A WeekAuthor: Pete Haas

To no one's surprise, The Sims 3 is selling like hot cakes. EA announced today that it was the company's best PC launch ever.
The game has sold 1.4 million copies for the PC/Mac in its first week and more than 7 million pieces of user-generated content have been downloaded. In addition, the iPhone/iPod Touch version of the game has been the top-selling paid app since launch. While 1.4 million in a week might seem small compared to, say, GTA IV's 3.4 million in one day, bear in mind that this is the PC. Also, the pattern for The Sims has been slow but steady sales over a long period of time. The Sims 2 sold about 13 million units in three years and is still a regular contender on weekly sales charts. You can read our own Kelly West's opinion on Sims 3 here.
