Smash Bros Brawl Hits One Million Sales Already

Super Smash Bros. Brawl has trounced all other competition on the Wii by being the fastest selling title to sell one million copies in Japan. It took Wii Fit seven weeks to get there and Wii Sports dawdled for eleven before hitting the platinum number. For a system that’s sold like gang busters, there aren’t as many platinum titles as you’d think. Wii Play, which is just a backdoor peripheral, and Mario Party 8 are the only other million sellers in Japan. Not even Galaxy has broken the barrier yet.

Brawl has sold an amazing 1.08 million units in just eleven days. Not weeks…that’s days. That is a lot of Japanese people battling it out with our favorite characters. It’s also a lot of people to be extremely jealous of. Now I wish I’d gotten a Japanese Wii like I’d intended. But the game is only a few short weeks from hitting western shores, so our desire for final smash action with sated soon.

I never advocate pre-orders for games…but when Super Smash Bros. Brawl launches in North America on March 9th, you’d better be prepared for the mad rush to get a copy.
