Was Sonic turning into a werewolf not non-canonical enough for you? How about Sonic driving a car? Sega revealed today that Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, a kart racing game starring popular characters from Sega franchises, is currently in development.

Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo are mentioned as playable characters in the press release. They'll race cars, planes, motorbikes in a variety of locations like medieval castles and rain forests. Each character has their own special ability - or "All Star move" - to give them a competitive edge and there are also power-ups and weapons strewn around each course. All-Stars Racing will support split-screen for up to four players and multiplayer matches for up to eight players.

Racing will be released in 2010 for PS3, 360, Wii and DS. This isn't the first game with a Sega ensemble cast. In March 2008, Sega released Sega Superstars Tennis. The developer of Superstars Tennis, Sumo Digital, is also making Racing.
