Sony has chosen the new Phil Harrison. The man taking the reigns as the Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios is Shuhei Yoshida. Yoshida is a long time Sony employee, going back to the mid 1980s, and is a main supporter of the Playstation brand. In fact, he was one of the key elements in getting the original Playstation off the ground.
Yoshida has made no comments on his plans for SCE Worldwide Studios, but we can certainly hope that he plans to release good games. Maybe he could even get us the in-game XMB and push for Home to make a public appearance before 2008 ends. That would certainly be nice.
"SCE WWS has been developing global hit titles, sharing resources and know-how within SCE Group since its foundation, and we will reinforce our software business by further enhancing coordination among the studios under a new leader," said SCEI President Kaz Hirai in a statement. Yoshida takes over officially starting May 16, which just happens to be right now.
