Sony PSP Talks Via Skype?

CES is on the horizon, and with it will come all new announcements and features for our consoles. PSP owners have been hearing rumors of a PSP phone, or voice technology possibly coming to Sony’s portable gaming system. A post over at Sony’s official CES site looks to confirm that something is in the works.

VOIP functionality has already seen release in Europe, but the posting is the first indication that the U.S. will be getting in on the action. ”Call friends, talk trash to fellow gamers, or catch up with acquaintances via Skype for PSP system,” says the website on the new PSP features. It’s not exactly clear exactly why you’d need phone functionality for your portable game system. Perhaps to call your mom and let her know you just pulled off a sick snipe. Mom’s love to hear how well their children are doing.

We’ll find out for sure what Sony has planned for the PSP when CES starts up on January 7th in Las Vegas.
