SouthPeak Games today announced X-Blades, a third person action title that doesn’t star a demon happy red trench coat wearing gun and sword afficianado. No, this game’s hero is a scantily clad anime inspired vixen. She’s be destroying her enemies with guns, blades, magic and coy looks.
“We are big fans of anime and that was really our inspiration for X-Blades,” said James Seaman, Managing Director at TopWare Interactive. “Our goal was to create stylistic characters and artwork, and mix that with lightning fast action. The result is a killer title that gamers and animation fans won’t be able to put down.” The press release describes the game as a cinematic title with ”relentless, high speed gameplay.” The main character, Ayumi, is a barely dressed heroine who has pistol blades. Which is an idea that is so simple in it’s efficiency. You put a sharp blade on your gun and you’ll never need to switch out weapons. The game will also feature full anime cut scenes that drives the plot along. We only have a handful of screens, which are below, but it sounds like they’re aiming for the Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden crowds. That’s a damn lofty goal as both of those titles are polished examples of gameplay and graphics. No release date has been set. |
