Disney Interactive’s amazing looking RPG-adventure for the Nintendo DS has finally been shipped to retailers and is now available. We’ve followed the game for quite some time, and have seen how it has become a cool looking title with some fairly unique features. But the good part is that the wait is now over.
This sequel is coming off the 2007 success of the original Spectrobes, which had more than 1 million units shipped worldwide. The story follows two unlikely heroes Rallen and Jeena (because if they were likely heroes the universe would have already been safe and there would have been no need for unlikely heroes, duh) as they battle a mysterious enemy known as the Krawl. It’s a kick-butt mixture of classic RPG questing fused with exploration and excavations. The real highlight of the gameplay resides in the two different battle systems that involves the Spectrobes, as well as Rallen.
“Spectrobes: Beyond The Portals is an ambitious and immersive Nintendo DS game that significantly expands upon the features of the original,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “The Spectrobes franchise is a major focus for Disney Interactive Studios and this new release will continue to excite players worldwide.”
Spectrobes II also re-introduces card input codes for the stylus, which can unlock new content. There’s also Wi-Fi connectivity that allows up to four players to battle on teams or in fatal four-ways. Pretty cool for an RPG. This is in addition to a revamped market place where players can trade, battle, and keep track of stats, rankings and leaderboards. DGamer also makes it easy to keep in touch with friends and chat. Heck, this game almost has more features than standard high-profile games for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Spectrobes II is exclusive to the Nintendo DS and carries the suggested retail price of $29.99. Be sure to stay tuned in with Blend Games for more news and info on all your favorite games.
