Spike Lee Doesn't Approve Of NBA 2K10 Cover Athlete
2K Sports revealed today that Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant has been selected as the cover athlete for NBA 2K10. One prominent basketball fan is already voicing his displeasure at the selection: director Spike Lee.
Lee, who directed the recent documentary about Bryant entitled Kobe Doin' Work, feigns outrage in a new video on the 2K Sports' website. He suggests that he or any of the starting Knicks (his team of choice) would've been a better choice for cover athlete. "If you have to use [Kobe], at least put him in the orange and blue."
The video is a promotion for the box cover vote. From now until June 15th, fans can vote on four different designs for 2K10's cover. Well, it's three legitimate designs and then a fourth cover with Kobe in a Knicks uniform. That fourth option will probably win but 2K's obviously not going to use it. The winning design will be announced on June 16th.
