Not everyone can whack a golf ball like Tiger Woods or bowl a strike like…some famous bowling guy. But with Sports Champions 2 for the PlayStation 3, now we can all at least pretend like that’s a possibility. And now, thanks to the freshly announced release date, we even know when we’ll all be able to start doing exactly that: October 30th.
It’s kind of fitting that Sports Champions 2 will be releasing so close to Halloween, seeing as how the game allows you to act like a perfectly crafted creature of physical perfection. While you won’t need to get in costume to play virtual tennis, you will at least need a PlayStation Move controller or two. Sports Champions 2 offers a (mostly) new collection of sporting events to try your hand at this time around, including skiing, boxing, tennis, golf, bowling and a new set of archery challenges. Over on the PlayStation Blog, Senior Producer Jeremy Ray dropped by to share a few additional details about the game. For starters, the Avatar Creator feature has apparently gone above and beyond what was originally planned. Secondly, players no longer have to do the “three point calibration” routine before playing each game. In the original Sports Champions, players had to hold the Move controller at their side, raise it to their shoulder, then touch it to their belt buckle in order to properly calibrate the controller. It was a small inconvenience but, thanks to work from the tech team at Zindagi, is no longer a necessary step. With Sports Champions 2 set to release in just a couple of months, Ray said the developer is now hard at work on all of the finishing touches. “We’re giving the game one final coat of polish and squashing bugs right now, and I’m proud to say that we’ve surpassed many of our lofty internal goals,” Ray aid. “We can’t wait until it’s in your hands.” Back to top
