We reported back in March that a new Spy vs Spy game looked to be in the works. Only a few months later and those suspicions can now be confirmed as First Star Software, Robots and Pencils and Warner Bros. have announced the impending release of, appropriately enough, Spy vs Spy for iOS.
This version of Spy vs Spy is actually a remake of the 1984 game originally released for the Commodore 64, among other consoles, which went on to sell by the millions. Calling it just a “remake” wouldn’t be fair, though. The iOS rendition will feature the original game and the ability to play the initial eight levels in the original 8-bit graphics, but along with an HD makeover, players will also have access to an additional 16 levels, online and local multiplayer, leaderbords, Achievements and more. In Spy vs Spy, players will enter various embassies in order to complete a mission. Depending on whether you are playing as White Spy or Black Spy, your arch nemesis will be breaking into the same location, bent on completing the same mission and, if possible, introducing you to the exploedy part of a bomb. While open combat is an option, the best spies will rely on lots of gadgets and traps to thwart their rival. Spy vs Spy is set to release for the iPhone and iPad sometime this summer, though nothing more specific has been announced. For additional details, head on over to the Robots and Pencils website.
