Square Enix, Eidos Agree On Buyout

Man, when Square Enix said they wanted to become more global or Western-oriented, they weren't kidding. Square Enix's rumored acquisition of Eidos Interactive is now a reality, with the two companies agreeing to buyout terms today.

According to MCV, Eidos' complete share capital will be scooped up by Square in early May. Eidos shareholders still have to approve the deal for it to be official. They're expected to do so later at a meeting later in March. Square made a offer of £84.3 million (about $119.4 million) for Eidos in mid-February.

As a gamer, I'm mostly concerned with how this will affect the products of the respective companies. With recent releases like Shellshock 2, though, Eidos can only go up.
