Rumor has it that Square Enix is working on a new action game. While no details are known about the project, they may have revealed the game's title in a recent trademark filing.

According to Siliconera, Square registered the name Vanguard Storm with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Even though they're moving into the action genre, one thing hasn't changed about Square: they're terrible at naming games. I'm not sure how they landed on the name "Vanguard Storm," but it sounds more suited to be the title of a DragonForce song.

Again, no specifics have been revealed about their action game and it's still not even known whether Vanguard Storm is the title of said game or something completely different. The timing seems to match up, though. Square got a little experience with Unreal Engine 3 by developing strategy RPG The Last Remnant so I wonder if they'll use that tech for their foray into the action genre, too.
