Star Trek Teaser Trailer Looks A Lot Like Mass Effect
Namco Bandai released a new teaser trailer for Star Trek featuring some more gameplay and fast-paced, sci-fi action and adventuring. The trailer features Spock and Kirk running, gunning, and jumping out into the far reaches of space.
The game looks identical to the action gameplay concepts of Mass Effect except on steroids, and as reported earlier this year, it's being designed by Digital Extremes. The color grading, shooting mechanics and character movements almost look like dead ringers for something out of BioWare's sci-fi universe. The video below is a quick snippet of gameplay featuring a collage of action-oriented scenarios that is sure to spike the interest of gamers looking for a more shooter-heavy version of Mass Effect.
Surprisingly enough, the game also actually looks kind of fun. If Namco can manage to keep the budget for this game moderate and the gameplay mechanics fluent, then they just might have another winner on their hands sort of like with One Piece: Pirate Musuo. Especially considering that Star Trek was built from the ground up for co-op multiplayer.
Namco is also quickly gaining rep for how they're handling Tekken Tag Tournament 2, so not only do they have the adventure genre all wrapped up nice and neat but their fighting games are venerable as well. They gained quite a bit of steam from the PC community as well, after acknowledging the petition to port Dark Souls, which will arrive on PCs later this summer. And to top it off, they might soon gain respect for their shooting titles, too. I guess only time will tell.
Star Trek is set for release in 2013 for the Xbox 360, PC and PS3. You can learn more about the game by visiting the Official Website.
