Star Wars: The Old Republic Update 1.1 Going Live Today

The delay to Star Wars: The Old Republic's first major content update turned out to be pretty short. Update 1.1: Rise of the Rakghouls, originally expected yesterday, will launch today.

Update 1.1 adds new content for level 50 players. A new four-player Flashpoint called Kaon Under Siege will task players with battling a Rakghoul infestation. Karagga's Palace, one of the game's two Operations, will be expanded with three new bosses.

This Flashpoint and expanded Operation will offer new loot for players to earn. Players who aren't level 50 yet will still have new rewards to pursue, including social items and non-combat pets.

BioWare has also made bug fixes across all areas of the game. For example, the last boss of the Foundry no longer hits your tank for 70k. Also, players with older ATI cards should no longer encounter black screens. The full list of changes is here.

Game director James Ohlen also dropped hints about what new content players should expect in the future.

"We have another major update planned for March and future content arriving throughout 2012 and 2013," said Ohlen on the developer blog. "We plan to release new Operations, Flashpoints, Warzones, Space Missions, single player content, vehicles, and companion characters. We’ll always be improving our existing game with additions like guild banks, PVP ranked matches and interface customization. Our Legacy system expands in March, bringing more options and a new level of depth to the existing character classes."
