It goes without saying that Star Wars is lucrative but The Force Unleashed video game has been an especially fat cash cow. As of now, it's sold 5.7 million units worldwide.

The game is, according to Gamasutra, the fastest-selling Star Wars game in history. It had probably accomplished that feat back when it sold 1.5 million copies in its first five days on store shelves but its sales growth since then has been downright impressive. One would imagine Lucas is out on his pleasure barge celebrating right now.

The game was released in mid-September for the PlayStation 2, PSP, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, iPod Touch, iPhone, mobile phone, N-Gage, Nintendo DS, PlayStation Portable. Safe to say the multiplatform, global release worked out well for them.
