Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Wins Writers Guild Award

It's been awhile since Star Wars has won any sort of writing award so this seemed worth noting: The Writers Guild of America announced on Saturday that LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was the winner of its second annual video game writing award.

Congratulations to the writing staff for Force Unleashed: Haden Blackman, Shawn Pitman, John Stafford and Cameron Suey.. Force Unleashed beat out Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble!, Fallout 3, and Tomb Raider: Underworld. It's a bit surprising that Fallout 3 didn't win but then again, how many voters sat down and played through all 50+ hours of that game?

Even though Fallout 3 was a strong contender, Force Unleashed had a solid story and was deserving of the award. Blend Games' review went so far as to say that the plot, which centered on the secret apprentice of Darth Vader, was the best feature of the game. It was a whole lot better than those god-awful prequel movies, anyway.
