BioWare will be releasing a web comic series entitled Threat of Peace to set up the storyline for its MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. They've just uploaded the first issue today.

You can view Act 1: Treaty of Coruscant over at BioWare's website. The comic series is being created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics. BioWare's Rob Chestney is handling the writing duties and Spider-Man and 30 Days of Night vet Alex Sanchez did the penciling.

New issues of the web comic will be released twice monthly. Based on the layout of the website, it looks like there will be six issues in total. No release date's been released for the game yet but it's sure as hell not coming out as soon when the series concludes in May.
