There’s nothing I like better in the morning than to read about one of my favorite developers working on a new title. It makes it that much more enjoyable when the new game is a mystery project! Oh boy, now I get to throw out random ideas and opinions on what it could be. EA today announced that Starbreeze is being given the go ahead to reinvent a classic EA franchise. But we know nothing about the game, and I mean nothing.
“EA Partners is thrilled to hand over the keys to one of EA’s most acclaimed franchises to Starbreeze Studios,” said David DeMartini, vice president and general manager of EA Partners in a press release today. So Starbreeze is making a game is the only info we know. EA did say we’ll be getting more information in the coming months, so expect whatever this is to be on display at E3 later in the year. Dubbed “Project RedLime,” Starbreeze is already hard at work on the game. The devs of Chronicles of Riddick and The Darkness have an affinity for action shooters. Perhaps we could see something like Syndicate. Or even better would be Madden 2010 with a dark storyline, guns and supernatural powers. That would be an NFL title I’d be. Of course EA CEO John Riccitiello did mention that Road Rash is currently on EA’s mind. What could Starbreeze do with that property? |
